On Sunday 24th November 2019, we were delighted to provide free cardiac screening to 100 youth players and their siblings from Richmond Rugby Club and the wider community. This was a massive effort from a number of people across the Foundation working together with the club.
This brought the total number of players and coaches screened in 2019 to almost 300 people.
Many thanks to Cardiac Risk in the Young for their support with the screening.
It was also lovely on the day to have some of Richmond women’s players down to be screened, alongside players from Englands Rugby 7’s stars (Dan Norton, Phil Burgess and Richard de Carpentier).
This demonstrates that at all levels, including the elite players, that cardiac screening is a vital part in protecting players whatever their age and playing level. Finding out there could be an issue can really make the difference … plus finding out there is no underling issue is also fantastic.
Further youth screenings will be taking place in late 2020. Follow us on social media to keep up to date with new and information.
