As you may have already heard, the Richmond Heavies Foundation are funding a programme of cardio screening across the Club.
2018 saw unexpected bereavements of three young players related to the veterans side of the club. This led to the creation of a charitable foundation to help protect all at the Club, as well as being able to help those immediately impacted, by a serious illness or bereavement.
AIMS:
PREVENTION. Preventing future avoidable medical conditions through enhanced health screening and education, made available throughout the Club.
SUPPORT. Assisting rugby families hit hard by sudden death or life-changing injury.
We have in 2019 screened almost 300 players and coaches across the club, of those screened already we are aware of issues which have required further testing – those people are hugely grateful for knowing & we may well have already saved a life!
We are now planning our second senior screening day which will take place Tuesday 23rd November at the club. This service is free of charge, and open to all senior squad players both male and female. We will have 40 places available, and allocation will be on a first come, first served basis. The screening will be conducted by The Cardiovascular Diagnostic Centre our cardiac screening partners..
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to be screened. The results are normally given on the day.
More details to follow.
NB: This service is free of charge, paid for by the Richmond Heavies Foundation. Any data/results from your screening remains confidential, neither Richmond FC nor the Richmond Heavies Foundation see them – we only know who has been screened.
