Nine days. Ten cyclists. Twenty wheels. 980 miles.
On the 4th September 2021, ten members of the Richmond Heavies Foundation family set off on the gruelling challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.
There was pain, injuries, sore bottoms, tears, punctures, broken bikes, awful roads, crashes, wind, rain, midges, endless climbing but all 10 members of the team crossed the finishing line 🏁
On the route we delivered much needed defibrillators to several community rugby clubs whose finances have been decimated by Covid.
Several recent deaths of young rugby players on the pitch from cardiac arrests act as a reminder how lucky Christian Eriksen was during the Euros to have a pitch side defibrillator and trained medical professionals immediately to hand.
Thanks to people’s generous donations to date 🙏🏻 we have raised enough to help supply over 30 rugby clubs with defibrillators, which is awesome.
However, we would like to do more to prevent avoidable tragedies in the rugby community. We would love to raise enough to support 40 clubs.
